Should the contents of this page not be on Help:Contents? That is, the page that the 'Help' link on the left points to ... :-) —Joe 12:24, 8 September 2008 (UTC)

Picky, picky, picky. 8-) Jim 12:29, 8 September 2008 (UTC)

True, but I would never have found this page if I hadn't looked at "Recent changes". ;-) Shall I move it, or at least its contents? —Joe 13:08, 8 September 2008 (UTC)
I was in a hurry so I just added a link to the Help:Contents page. But, your suggestion is much better. If you feel like fussing with it, go right ahead! We can change the link on the Main Page to point to Help:Contents then. Jim 13:21, 8 September 2008 (UTC)
OK, I've copied-and-pasted the contents of the Help Page Collection page, and moved the talk page. There are now redirects in place so anyone going to the old pages will come here. —Joe 14:37, 8 September 2008 (UTC)

Citation techniques

There are various templates that Wikipedia employs which could be useful additions to the site—particularly dealing with author-year rather than numerical citations [1]. I'm going to try to port across some of these templates but I'd like to see how/if we can integrate them with Bibwiki. —Joe 12:42, 8 September 2008 (UTC)

Sounds good. If you need any admin assistance, get hold of Mario, "Mario Passamani" <passamani@disi.unitn.it>, our Wiki sysop and full-time tech support person. Jim 12:46, 8 September 2008 (UTC)

Will do. I've sent an email to the author of the Bibwiki plugin to check a few things not discussed in the online help, once I have his reply back, I'll get on with this. —Joe 13:00, 8 September 2008 (UTC)
OK, here's the results of my discussion with the Bibwiki author. Bibwiki doesn't offer author/year citation functionality and he has no plans to develop it further, since the Master's thesis for which it was written is now complete. However it is maintained inasmuch as he will integrate patches and bug fixes provided by other people. I have a couple of ideas for how to improve the software but really I think it's not so important to the long-term future of LiquidPub. So, instead, I'll provide the nice citation templates as used by Wikipedia and write up some notes on how to use them—probably a better solution for now. —Joe 15:12, 8 September 2008 (UTC)
